Festival of Wellbeing in High Wycombe: A Celebration of Health and Community

The Festival of Wellbeing 2023 in High Wycombe was held on Saturday, June 17th, with a focus on community, health, and collaboration. Approximately 500 to 600 participants attended the festival, which was organized by local groups, charities, organizations, and community members.

The event saw the participation of 36 volunteers from Cornerstone, a charitable arm of Wycombe Community Seventh-day Adventist Church, as well as volunteers from Hope Community and Reading Churches.

The festival began with an opening ceremony led by the Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council and other local dignitaries, including the Town Mayor of High Wycombe, Councillor Paul Turner, who highlighted the event's objectives of promoting good health, wellbeing, mental health awareness, and community engagement.

The festival emphasised the significance of regular health checks and assessments. Experts from different fields, including therapists, nutritionists, and fitness trainers, shared their knowledge and strategies for healthier living through informative presentations. These presentations covered a diverse range of health-related topics and aimed to inspire and motivate attendees to make positive changes in their daily lives.

Cornerstone's healthcare professionals aslo provided personalized free consultations, health screenings, and valuable advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Additionally, Adventist health and religious literature were distributed, and a Pathfinder drum corps added to the festive atmosphere.

Apart from health-related activities, the festival aimed to facilitate connections among community members. Attendees were encouraged to network, engage, and develop meaningful relationships with local groups and organizations including Cornerstone, and mental health charity Wycombe MIND. Throughout the festival, a lively and welcoming atmosphere prevailed, allowing for positive discussions on wellbeing and the availability of support within the community.

The Adventist presence at the festival continues to leave a lasting impact on the community, as evidenced by the ongoing positive feedback received by Church members. This serves as evidence of the significance of their involvement and acts as an encouragement for continued participation in future community events.
