Cheltenham Teens and Tweens Day

Sabbath 30 March heralded the 6th Cheltenham Teens and Tweens Day on the theme of The Good Life. This day for Teens (13+) and Tweens (aged 8 - 12) and their families, included age appropriate workshops on 'Heaven and The New Earth', followed by all-age worship with lively singing led by the young people and a very interactive message based around the Good Samaritan.

Pastor Trevor Thomas (pastor in the Reading area) told us he no longer preaches sermons but tells stories - which he did with the help of several volunteers. He also encouraged us to think of creative and crazy ways to be a good neighbour.

The beautiful warm sunshine helped those who wished to enjoy their picnic lunches outside on the grass, followed by a walk in the Cotswolds. Evening worship included a message from Pastor Juan Patrick (SEC Teens Director) who amazed everyone with his sound effects whilst showing us how treatment of people is more important than theology. The day was rounded off with soup and rolls and plenty of fellowship.

Plenty of appreciative comments were from the 160 or so who came from such areas as Cornwall, the south coast, Staffordshire, and many in between. These indicate the continued need for such events.

One particular outstanding comment from an attending pastor was that this is the way church needs to happen for our young people as a norm, rather than the exception.
